Development Assistant, New England

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Reports To: Director of Development, New England

Start Date: Immediate

Facing History and Ourselves is seeking a Development Assistant in New England to provide effective administrative and operational infrastructure and support for the New England Development Team and professionals holding relationships with New England-based donors or funders.  This role will work in close coordination with the Director of Development, Executive Director, and Senior Director, Individual Giving to provide logistical and communications support for fundraising, Advisory Board, and events. The Development Assistant will be responsible for supporting all operational and administrative tasks, and will be responsible for data integrity in Salesforce, including data entry and report generation. This individual will act as a key member of the Development team, preparing for weekly meetings, distributing weekly financial reports and generally keeping the team communication strong and consistent.

New England Development Efforts

  • Support donor life cycle in Facing History New England region, including cultivation, solicitation, gift processing and acknowledgement, and stewardship of New England donors; may maintain small portfolio upon request

  • Support the Development Teamís calendar and effective and timely communication regarding scheduling and schedule changes, meeting planning, priority of tasks, etc.

  • Support the New England Development team and volunteer leadership in scheduling of and preparation for donor meetings and other related donor contacts/events

  • In coordination with Institutional Funders team, organize and maintain foundation and corporate sponsorship pipeline and calendar; assist on grant-writing upon request

  • Ensure Salesforce database records are up to date and accurate.  Run, maintain and distribute weekly reports for the New England team or upon request

Events

  • Support Development Team and organizational Special Events Team to ensure successful planning and execution of fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events and all related activities, including larger Benefit.  Responsibilities include: managing invitation process, tracking registrations and gifts, running and circulating reports (note: at this time, Facing History events are all virtual)

  • Ensure that all event information is accurately updated and tracked on the organizational calendar, the events database and each individual campaign in Salesforce

New England Advisory Board 

  • Provide support to the Development team for the New England Advisory Board and its subcommittees.  Responsibilities include: organizing logistics for Advisory Board meetings (food preparations, room + AV setup,) providing technical support,  tracking attendance and taking detailed notes, updating Salesforce as needed and completing other tasks as requested (note: at this time, all Board related meetings are virtual.)

Essential Skills / Qualities:

  • BA/BS preferred

  • Work/intern experience in administrative support/non-profit/development settings

  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail a must

  • Interest in, and ability to articulate the mission of Facing History and Ourselves.

  • Strong familiarity and comfort with database management; Salesforce knowledge preferred

  • Familiarity and comfort with donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship preferred

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, Photoshop and social media platforms; Experience with Zoom and Zoom Webinar preferred

  • Creative energy, self-starting with strong attention to detail, and the ability to organize and manage multiple assignments in a busy non-profit setting

  • Ability to work individually and as a member of a team; flexibility

  • Familiarity with education/non-profit settings preferred

  • Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.
