Salary Range*: $65,000 - $75,000

Position Summary: The Project Manager, Operations reports to the Director of Project Management and is a core member of the Project Management Office (PMO). They are responsible for successfully planning, managing, implementing, and closing a portfolio of major projects at Facing History. The Project Manager, Operations collaborates cross-functionally with internal staff and external partners and contractors, as needed, to ensure that assigned projects are planned and operated efficiently, within budget and on time, and deliver the quality that Facing History is known for.
Who We Are: The Project Management Office (PMO) is a small and relatively new team within the Operations department at Facing History. We work cross functionally to support large projects and initiatives, collaborating with colleagues across the organization. We also work to promote strong project management practices among our colleagues by developing resources and providing ongoing opportunities for learning and growth. We care deeply about Facing History’s mission and the work we do in the field of education.

Specific Responsibilities Include:
As a member of the Project Management Office (PMO), develop and contribute to creation of project management tools, processes, resources, and trainings to promote effective project management across the organization and support others engaged in this work
Manage a portfolio of multiple short-term and long-term cross-functional projects, in close partnership with project owners and project teams, through the project life cycle, including planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects
Develop and drive project work plans by setting meeting schedules and agendas as appropriate, in accordance with project timelines and deliverables; identifying next steps and follow-up for all team members; delegating responsibilities appropriately; and ensuring communication within and across projects and teams
Manage and coordinate all related project activities, including but not limited to maintaining project information and documentation in the organization’s file systems, such as budgets, internal and external materials, proposals, contracts, and reports
Support budget development and tracking of expenses as needed, collaborating with project owners and finance staff
Manage and monitor project metrics, timeline, and progress toward deliverables
Ensure strong communication and visibility about the project among key stakeholders in the organization
Serve as the primary liaison between the project team and other departments, such as coordinating with development staff on grant reporting

BA/BS or relevant work experience; minimum of 3+ years relevant work experience
Experience working in education and/or nonprofit settings strongly preferred
Cultural sensitivity and ability to work with a wide range of internal and external contacts from diverse backgrounds
Committed to Facing History’s mission and strong interest in learning about Facing History’s work
Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes and coordinate across functions
Ability to multitask and be flexible while showing attention to detail
Ability to take in information quickly and synthesize it in a way that is accessible to others
Disciplined self-starter and independent worker with creative energy
Ability to determine, plan and organize goals and prioritize actions
Excellent written and oral communication and computer skills
Knowledge of project management tools and processes
Experience with budgeting and financial management
Strong people and relationship management skills

Remote-First/ Hybrid Work Model: Facing History and Ourselves operates in a remote-first/hybrid work model, allowing staff flexibility in both schedules and work locations. This particular position is attached to our Headquarters and is home-based. Some travel is required.
