Position Overview: Facing History and Ourselves seeks a skilled instructional designer and group facilitator to design and lead Facing History based offerings on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in corporations that effectively advances conversations and understanding among work colleagues.†

The Senior Corporate Facilitator will report to the Senior Director of Institutional Partnerships and will work in tandem with the Facing History regional program and development team to grow strong corporate partnerships.†They will work with other Facing History Program leaders and board volunteers to help adapt our approach with educators to be relevant and impactful for corporate leaders.

Our ideal candidate is a person who has corporate experience working in DEI that includes adult learning methods where team and personal growth occurs because of masterful group facilitation and relevant program content.†

Who We Are: The Institutional Partnerships team is small but growing team charged with diversifying revenue from foundations, corporations and the government. We are passionate frontline partnership builders and care deeply about our community. We are constantly looking to broaden support in order to advance our ability to reach more teachers, our schools, and their students. We are keen to actively expand into corporate partnerships with new program offerings.

You have exceptional and seasoned facilitation skills. You are:

  • Prepared for almost anything and acutely read the audienceís readiness for each topic, adjusting as necessary†
  • Your ability to remain helpful in a potentially emotional discussion is a core competency
  • Adept at creating an inclusive safe space
  • Deliver clear guidelines and equally clear instructions†
  • Have a deep well of empathy and actively listen†
  • Recognize and can manage conflict
  • Quickly build rapport and trust with participants

You also have good platform presentation skills. You can:

  • Clearly communicate a sessionís topic, goal, and relevance to the participants
  • Uses appropriate humor, stories, and delivery methods to bring content to life
  • Manage the timing of different session components confidently while creating a high quality experience for participants.
  • Successfully integrate Facing History's content and learning methods†

You have experience/interest in instructional design and can also:

  • Understand corporate audience needs in order to help design learning sessions.
  • Develop content leveraging Facing History's knowledge and design methodologies appropriate for the corporate setting
  • Effectively collaborate with subject matter experts and other facilitators to develop a final product.

Other Key Competencies:

  • Previous working experience facilitating corporate DEI learning sessions preferably with senior leadership.
  • Keeps current with aspirations and practices other companies are exploring in the DEI space.
  • Desire to learn new content and to deeply engage with Facing Histories pedagogy, case studies content, adult learning strategies, and understand how we connect history to the present in order to make them accessible to a new corporate audience.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to changing needs and priorities while staying positive.
  • Can easily toggle between corporate settings and educational settings
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Ability to persevere under tight deadlines and a rapidly changing environment
  • Interest in, and ability to articulate the mission of this non-profit

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated 3-5 years experience with developing and delivering training-related content for corporate customers. Experience with working with educators a definite plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time the first year.†
